89 Syrian nationals, most of whom were children, wanted to return to Syria on Thursday via the Nusaybin Border Gate in the south-eastern province of Mardin.
The Syrians arrived in Nusaybin town, a neighbor of Syria's Qamishli city, on Thursday and began waiting at the Nusaybin Border Gate.
Turkish troops at the border called local police officers and took security measures at the border.
The Syrians were taken to a police station in two buses.
Nizamettin Salih said that they arrived in Turkey four months ago after fleeing civil war in Syria.
We expect authorities at the border to help us cross back into Syria, Salih noted.
"We have been facing many difficulties with our children. The only Syrian city where there are no clashes is Qamishli. This is why we want to go to Qamishli. We request Turkish authorities to help us. We have no other wish than returning to Syria," Salih also said.Last Mod: 25 Ocak 2013, 09:47
