Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will address the Turkish Parliamentary General Assembly on Monday.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is expected to deliver his “special thanks” for Ankara’s support over Palestinians’ UN statehood bid.

Turkey, one of the staunchest supporters of Palestinian efforts for statehood, has helped Palestinians in their lobbying attempts to upgrade the Palestinian Authority's observer status at the world body from "entity" to "non-member state.”

A statement by the Presidential Press Center has said that Abbas would visit Turkey between December 10-12 upon invitation by President Abdullah Gul.

During his visit to Turkey, Turkish-Palestinian cooperation, regional and international issues will be discussed.
