The Governor of Ankara, Alaaddin Yuksel, said on Friday that two people, including the suicide bomber, were killed in today's blast at the US Embassy in Ankara.
Speaking to the press in front of the US Embassy, Yuksel said that a suicide bomber had detonated the explosives in front of a door of the US Embassy at around 13.10 hours on Friday.
Two people, including the suicide bomber, were killed at the blast and a Turkish woman was wounded, Yuksel noted.
The Turkish woman is now under medical treatment at Ankara's Numune Hospital, Yuksel said.
Answering a question, Yuksel said that the individual who lost his life was a Turkish national working as a security officer at the US Embassy.
In regard to another question, Yuksel underlined that the blast took place within the premises of the US Embassy.
Yuksel told the press corps that they would share all information as it became available.
Security has been tightened at surrounding embassies after the blast. A part of the Paris Avenue where the US Embassy is located has been shut down to traffic. Security measures have been taken especially at the German and French embassies following today's blast.
