Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will travel to Brazil for "Rio+20" summit organized by the United Nations Development Program.

Erdogan will deliver a speech at the sustainable development summit, which is expected to be attended by more than 100 heads of state and government.

The First Environment and Development World Summit was held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. This summit will take place on the 20th anniversary of the first
summit.

Erdogan will also co-chair Brazil-Turkey summit, aiming to boost bilateral cooperation, during his stay in Rio de Janeiro.

The main topics of the meeting are sustainable energy, education, food safety, water safety and oceans. The summit aims to draw a road map for environment-friendly green economic growth.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Alvimedica technological products, Anadolu Efes, Arcelik, ARGE consultancy, Coca-Cola beverages, CEVKO, Eczacibasi Vitra, Eregli iron and steel, Ford Otosan, ICDAS corporation, IGDAS corporation, Istanbul Stock Exchange (ISE), Sekerbank, Garanti Bankasi, Turkcell, Turkish Industrial Development Bank and Turkish Industrialists' & Businessmen's Association (TUSIAD) will represent Turkey in the summit.

Moreover, Erdogan will hold bilateral meetings with participating leaders. Two countries are expected to sign six agreements to increase their trade volume.

Turkey's exports to Brazil were up 58 percent to 614 million USD, and its imports rose 22 percent to 1.348 million USD in 2010. Overall trade reached 2 billion USD in 2011.

During Erdogan's visit to Brazil in May 2010, two countries signed a strategic partnership action plan.
