Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Wednesday European Union (EU) membership was Turkey's strategic goal.

We can not accept any other alternative other than full EU membership, Gul said.
Slovenian President Danilo Turk hosted a dinner in honor of Gul on Wednesday.

Speaking at the dinner, Turk said that relations between Turkey and Slovenia developed highly recently.

Also speaking at the dinner, President Gul said that EU membership was Turkey's strategic aim.

It is impossible for us to accept any other alternative but full EU membership. EU's current approach to Turkey shadows its own image. The international community needs a more strong EU globally. No doubt, Turkey will make the crucial contribution to the EU for a global role, Gul stressed.

Economic and commercial relations between Turkey and Slovenia grew rapidly recently, Gul said.

However, Gul said, we must increase mutual investments.

There are many fields that our two countries can invest in in the Balkans, Gul stressed.
