Turkish President Abdullah Gul said on Thursday that Turkey wanted to see a Balkan region where friendship, harmony and cooperation were secured.
President Gul, who is currently visiting Bosnia-Herzegovina, addressed the parliamentarians.
Gul said that Bosnian parliament's main duty was to protect its country and work for prosperity and happiness of the people.
Turkey attached a great interest in Balkan countries due to historical and cultural reasons, he said.
"We have a sound social and cultural ties with the people in this region," Gul said.
Gul said Turkey was one of strong defenders for lasting peace, security and stability in Balkans and attached a great importance to territorial integrity of the region.
