Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Wednesday a government embracing all segments in Iraq would be successful.

In a meeting held in Istanbul on Wednesday, Gul and Iraqi Vice-President Tariq al-Hashimi discussed the elections in Iraq.

Al-Hashimi gave information to President Gul on efforts to form up a government in Iraq following the general elections in that country.

In the meeting, President Gul pointed out that it was important for the new government in Iraq to embrace all segments in order to be successful.

President Gul congratulated al-Hashimi for Iraq's membership to the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

In a separate meeting with Mongolia's President Tsakhia Elbegdorj in Istanbul, Gul stressed that Turkey and Mongolia shared common history.

Sources said that Gul's meeting with Elbegdorj was constructive.

In his meeting with Mongolia's President, Gul said that Turkish investors were encouraged to invest in Mongolia.

President Gul said that Turkey paid high attention to cooperating with Mongolia in the educational sector.

President Elbegdorj said that Israel's attack on ships carrying aid material to Gaza on May 31 was inhumane.
