Israeli Environmental Protection Minister Amir Peretz landed in Turkey on Wednesday night, launching the first official visit of an Israeli minister to the country since bilateral ties nosedived in the wake of a deadly raid on the Mavi Marmara ship in 2010.

Israeli Environmental Protection Minister Amir Peretz will attend the Convention for the protection of the Mediterranean Sea against pollution meeting to be held in Istanbul on Thursday.

Convention for the Protection Of The Mediterranean Sea Against Pollution was signed on 16 February 1976, in force since 12 February 1978 and revised in Barcelona, Spain, on 10 June 1995 as the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Region of the Mediterranean.
