The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) President Necirvan Barzani has held a press conference in Erbil, following his Iraq visit. Talking about some critical issues such as the ongoing settlement process in Turkey and the decisions taken during the meetings in Baghdad, he said that “the PKK withdrawal is not a small project” and they are ready to do what is necessary for making the peace process accomplished well.

Necirvan Barzani has said that compensations should be paid right away to the families of those killed in Halabja and Anfal massacres and at the same time for the Shiites killed in the south. “In Iraq, we do not act against a sectarian group by joining to another.” Barzani said.

Answering a question regarding the peace process in Turkey and the withdrawal of PKK (The Kurdistan Workers Party) to Northern Iraq, Barzani said that, “We have supported the settlement process from the very beginning, without interfering in the internal affairs of Turkey.”
