The newly appointed Turkish ambassador in Tripoli said on Friday that Turkey hoped Libya would achieve peace and development soon.
Turkey's new ambassador in Tripoli Ali Kemal Aydin, and the accompanying diplomatic personnel, arrived in the Libyan capital under the escort of the Libyan dissident forces on Friday.
Speaking to AA upon his arrival at the embassy building, Aydin said a new era had begun in Libya and he was happy to serve as the Turkish ambassador in this country during such period.
"Libya and Libyan people are Turkey's friends. We have historical, social and cultural ties. We hope Libya achieves peace and development, and gains a prestigious position in the international arena," Aydin said.
Meanwhile, Turkish police teams, who had accompanied Aydin during his journey to Tripoli, searched the embassy building and secured the environment before the ambassador and other Turkish diplomats entered the mission.
Moreover, officials told AA that the embassy building and the ambassador's residence had been looted by unidentified assailants and vehicles of the embassy had been damaged during the clashes in Tripoli.
