Turk victims in Germany fire returned to homeland

Bodies of eight Turks, who died in a fire in Germany, were brought in western Afyonkarahisar city on Wednesday after autopsies on them were completed in Istanbul.

Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag and Forestry & Water Works Minister Veysel Eroglu also arrived in Afyonkarahisar together with the funerals.

Seven children -between the ages of 6 months and 17 years- and their mother lost their lives in a fire which broke out in Backnang city of Germany on Sunday. Their bodies were found at the first floor of the house.

Nazli Ozcan Soykan (40), Hatice (17), Yilmaz (14), Abdulkadir (8), Izzet (7), Yasin (6), Ahmet (3), and Murat (6 months) lost their lives in the fire.

An investigation is still underway to determine what might have caused the deadly fire in Backnang, a town near Stuttgart.

The mother and her seven children will be laid to rest at Kocatepe Cemetery after noon prayer.
