Turkey on Saturday condemned Israel's invitation for bidders to construct more than 1900 housing units in several settlements in East Jerusalem and West Bank, stating it is against the international law as well as threatening a two-state solution.

Turkish Foreign Ministry released a statement expressing Turkey's support to the peace process for a two-state solution within the borders before 1967, started with the initiative of US.

The process is expected to culminate in a fair, comprehensive and sustainable agreement which will provide the foundation of an independent and sovereign Palestine with its capital of East Jerusalem, Turkey emphasized as its biggest wish in the statement.

"The steps, not complying with the spirit of peace talks and threatening the solution based on the two-states must come to an end," the statement read, adding that Turkey condemned the announcement of tenders for the construction of over 1900 illegal settlements in East Jerusalem and West Bank.

The Washington-sponsored peace talks between Israel and Palestine resumed last July after a three-year hiatus.
