Turkey has condemned a suicide bomb attack on a mosque in Saudi Arabia which killed four people during Friday prayers.

Turkey’s Foreign Ministry on Saturday said the country "strongly condemned the terror act that led to a loss of life and injuries”.

On Friday, four people died and 18 others were injured when a suicide bomber targeted a mosque in the eastern province of al-Ahsa.

The Saudi Press Agency quoted an interior ministry official as saying: “Security forces managed to observe the suicide bombers as they headed to the mosque. One of them, however, detonated his explosive belt in the mosque’s entrance when security forces approached him.

"The other was arrested after clashes with security forces.”

Turkey’s Foreign Ministry said it offered condolences to the families of those killed and injured and said Turkey would side with Saudi Arabia in fighting terrorism.

Saudi Arabia has witnessed sporadic suicide attacks in recent months.
