Turkey's Ambassador in London, Unal Cevikoz said that no weapons were supplied to Syrian opposition groups at the Turkish border.

Speaking at the "Newsnight" program of British BBC TV channel, Ambassador Cevikoz said that Turkey wanted the Syrian issue to be solved peacefully.

Asked about how much Turkey was concerned on the developments in Syria, Cevikoz said that "all signals point out that there is a growing humanitarian problem in Syria. This situation (negatively) affects neighboring countries, especially Lebanon and Turkey".

In regard to a question on whether or not Turkey provided weapons to the Syrian opposition, Cevikoz said that "No. We support the democratic rights of the Syrian people and want the Syrian issue to be solved peacefully".

"As such, we support opposition groups who have not preferred violence," Cevikoz also said.
