First Secretary of EU delegation Javier Menendez Bonilla said that Turkey- EU relations were sound; the important thing was to bring political momentum in this process.
Within the scope of "Europe Day" celebrations, Bonilla visited Turkey's central Anatolian province of Kayseri, and told Turkish press that Turkey took important steps towards EU membership and new reforms were appreciated.
However, he added, Turkey's full membership depended on Turkey-EU relations.
Reminding that the EU membership processes of new members Czech Republic and Hungary took some time, Bonilla pointed out that EU membership itself was a long process.
Bonilla said that Turkey made 40 percent of its commerce with EU countries, and many great foreign investments were made in Turkey.
“Besides economic relations, we have cooperation with Turkey in education and tourism areas too,” Bonilla added.Last Mod: 28 Mayıs 2013, 17:34
