Turkey expects Israel to name member to UN committee

Turkish government spokesman said on Monday that Turkey expected Israel to appoint a member to a committee set up by United Nations (UN) Secretary General.

Turkey's State Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek, who is also the spokesman of the government, said Turkey's expectations from Israel were obvious.

"We want Israel to appoint a member to the committee set up by UN Secretary General, we have accepted the proposal," Cicek said after a cabinet meeting in Ankara.

Cicek said Turkey would make public required measures unless Israel appointed a member to the mentioned committee.

"The political, economic and military dimensions of the issue depend on Israel's attitude," Cicek said.

Nine people, including eight Turkish and one U.S. citizen of Turkish descent, died when Israeli forces raided a Gaza-bound aid flotilla on May 31. Around 30 people were wounded in the attack.
