Turkey, India sign economic cooperation protocol

Turkey's Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci and India's Industry and Trade Minister Anand Sharma on Friday signed a cooperation agreement known as the Joint Committee on Economic and Technical Cooperation (JCETC) in New Delhi.

According to a press release for the Ministry of Economy, the JCETC protocol envisages cooperation opportunities in investments, customs, energy, logistics, research and development areas that can be useful for both countries.

The two sides also decided to start negotiations on the Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement, believed to be the most effective instrument in improving economic ties between two counties.

Referring to the $6.6 billion trade volume between two countries in 2012, the ministry announced that two countries agreed to increase the volume of trade and the level of bilateral trade.
