Turkey wants to boost its economic partnership with Kazakhstan by establishing a trade that "gets beyond borders," Turkish minister responsible for international trade said on Thursday.

In a visit to the Kazakh capital, Astana, to participate in the Turkey-Kazakhstan Joint Economic Commission's eighth term meeting, Turkey's Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci said both countries could mingle their richnesses in order to achieve a solid economic cooperation.

He said Turkish companies could have a significant role in the modernization and renovation process of the Kazakhstan's only sea port, the Aktau International Sea Port.

For his part, Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and New Technologies Aset Isekeshev said Turkey and Kazakhstan could cooperate in food and agriculture, adding it was "not hard for both countries to increase their current trade volume to $10 billion."

The trade volume between Turkey and Kazakhstan amounted to $3.1 billion in 2012.
