Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek on Monday met with his Kyrgyz counterpart Akhmatbek Keldibekov in the Turkish capital, Ankara.
Speaking to reporters after their meeting, Cicek said parliaments played a major role in the growth and the prosperity of a country as well as in maintaining domestic peace.
Cicek vowed to boost relations between the national assemblies of the two countries, saying that Turkey closely monitored developments in Turkey.
"Turkey supports reform efforts exerted by Kyrgyzstan to secure welfare and stability in the country," Cicek said.
Keldibekov on his part said that the Kyrgyz people were grateful for Turkey's humanitarian aid to his country during the 2010 clashes between in southern Kyrgyzstan, primarily in the cities of Osh and Jalal-Abad.
Cicek and Keldibekov also penned a protocol to boost cooperation between the two parliaments.
