Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Dervis Eroglu's Special Envoy, Kudret Ozersay, said Sunday that they began holding talks on the steps to be taken on oil and natural gas.
Speaking to the Turkish News Agency in Lefkosa, Ozersay said that a technical delegation would travel to Ankara next week to discuss the issue of oil and natural gas (in the Mediterranean).
Turkish Cypriots have made a call on the Greek Cypriots to postpone their activities on oil and natural gas. If the Greek Cypriots listen to us, then there will not be a need for us to take a step, Ozersay said.
Referring to his one-day visit to Ankara, Ozersay said that the Turkish officials and he discussed the stage Cyprus negotiations were in and naval territories.
Ozersay's remarks came after the Greek Cypriots recently announced they would begin exploration for oil and natural gas in the Eastern Mediterranean.
