A Turkish deputy prime minister said on Tuesday that an agreement to prevent double taxation would have a positive effect on Turkish-Yemeni economic relations.
Turkey's State Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said that Turkey would soon ratify the agreement, which would positively affect Turkish-Yemeni economic relations.
"Trade between Turkey and Yemen rose 8 percent in 2009," Arinc said during the Turkey-Yemen Joint Committee's Fifth Term Meeting in Ankara.
Arinc said he wished Turkish contractors would undertake projects in Yemen, and Yemeni students could make use of educational opportunities in Turkish universities.
The Turkish minister invited Yemeni Minister of Industry & Trade Yahya Yahya al-Mutawakil to a trade ministers summit and a foreign trade summit in Turkey on June 14-15.
Also speaking in the meeting, al-Mutawakil said two countries should set up a joint business council, and called on Turkish companies to invest in Yemen.
Al-Mutawakil said Yemen hoped to sign customs cooperation and maritime transportation agreements with Turkey.
