Turkey's Davutoglu meets Lebanese Speaker

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri discussed Mideast Peace Process and Turkey's role in the region as well as bilateral relations, diplomats said on Monday.

Berri, who is currently in Turkey on a state visit, thanked Davutoglu for Turkey's support to Lebanon on health, education and security issues, diplomats told reporters after the meeting of the two statesmen.

Berri underscored Turkey's role in the region and praised its contribution to UNIFIL.

On his part, Davutoglu said that Turkey has been struggling for peace in the region, adding that removal of visa restriction between Turkey and other regional countries such as Syria, Lebanon and Jordan would help boost relations between these nations.

As part of his talks in Turkey, Berri was received by Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Parliament Speaker Mehmet Ali Sahin and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier in the day.
