Turkey's parliament speaker in Iran for OIC Parliamentary Union Conference

Turkey's Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek attended the opening ceremony on Monday of the "Iranian-Ottoman relations in archives" exhibition in Tehran, where he has been for the ninth session of the Conference of Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States (PUIC), to be held on Tuesday.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Cicek said that Iran and Turkey, as two influential historical actors, are like a bridge between the East and the West.

The exhibition showcased 33 official documents, showing correspondence between Iran and the Ottoman Empire in the latter days of the Ottoman Empire.

"The exhibtion sheds light on Ottoman-Iranian relations which will contribute to the Turkish and Iranian people understanding each other."

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Parliament Speaker Sibel Siber was also in Tehran to attend the OIC Parliamentary Union Conference as an observer guest. Sibel attended the exhibition's opening ceremony and accompanied Cicek in taking a tour of Iran's Parliament Library and Museum.

Cicek and Siber signed the memorial book of the museum and attended a dinner given by Turkey's Ambassador to Iran at Turkey's embassy.
