Turkey's PM offers Russia condolence over deadly fires

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan offered condolence to Russia where at least 52 people were killed in recent forest fires.

Speaking on the phone with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Friday, Erdogan expressed sorrow over the forest fires in Russia, and said that Turkey was ready to help Russia especially by sending fire fighting planes and other assistance equipment.

Putin thanked Erdogan and said that they would ask Turkey's help if necessary.

More than 500 separate blazes are burning mainly across western Russia. At least 52 people have died and 2,000 homes have been destroyed in the blazes. Russian officials said that 10,000 firefighters were battling the blazes.
