Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Friday met with his New Zealander counterpart Murray McCully over a working dinner in Istanbul.

The dinner was held closed to press as diplomatic sources said the two foreign minister discussed bilateral relations, developments in Syria and preparations for the Anzac Day commemorations on 25 April to honour the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps who fought at Gallipoli in the Ottoman Empire during World War I.

Sources said McCully had praised Turkey's efforts to shelter Syrian refugees and he had conveyed his government's pledge to extend aid to Turkey to support the Turkish humanitarian drive.
