Turkish and US businessmen set up advisory board

Turkish and U.S. businessmen have established an advisory board to boost commercial relations and increase investments, a U.S. diplomat said on Tuesday.

Douglas Silliman, the U.S. deputy chief of mission to Turkey, said Turkish and U.S. businessmen were in coordination to increase trade and investments.

The board would probably start working in October, Silliman said during his visit to Iskenderun town of the southern province of Hatay.

Silliman said the board would make recommendations to the Turkish and U.S. governments to help improve trade and investments.

During his visit to Iskenderun, Silliman met Gokhan Gokten, the head of the Cukurova branch of the Turkish American Businessmen's Association, and Garbis Kisadir, the head of Karasun Manuk Armenian Church Foundation.

U.S. Consul in Adana Daria Darnell and Second Consul Leyla Ones accompanied Silliman during his visit.
