Grandchildren of the Ottoman telegraph officers live in the Al-Mahvit province of Yemen in the Turkish and Kurdish villages.
Turkish descendants in Yemen, with a 200-year past, live in the Beytu't-Turki (Turkish House) and Beytu'l-Kurdi (Kurdish House) villages of the Al-Mahwit province 150 kilometres away from the Yemeni capital of Sana'a.
The Turkish and Kurdish villages formed with the settling of Ottoman telegraph officers resume a peaceful life in Yemen. The relations between two villages are similar to those of Anatolia, with inter-village marriages and collective work traditions.
