Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Saturday that opening of border with Armenia was out of question, the state-run Anadolu Agency said.

Davutoglu, who is currently in Kazakhstan for an informal meeting of the foreign ministers of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), denied news reports which claimed that borders between Turkey and Armenia would be opened.

"Opening of border is out of question. These news stories are completely wrong," he said.

On Friday, the Spokesman for the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Burak Ozugergin, said they were discreetly evaluating opening the Turkish-Armenian border temporarily in the event a request comes for the passage of equipment to be used in the military exercise.

Davutoglu said he also discussed the issue with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and told Mammadyarov in the meeting that there was no such thing.

Regarding a meeting between foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia on Upper Karabakh issue, Davutoglu said, "talks will continue. I believe that a solution will be reached."

Turkey and Armenia agreed to launch internal political consultations over two protocols, which had been agreed on under Swiss mediation. The consultations were to be completed within six weeks which would be followed by ratification at Turkish and Armenian parliaments.

President Gul said that diplomacy was being carried out to convince Armenian President Serzh Sargsian to a national match between Turkey and Armenia to be played in Turkey in October, 2009.

On August 31, Turkey and Armenia agreed to start their internal political consultations on the establishment of diplomatic ties and development of bilateral relations.
