Turkish Minister of Forestry and Water Works Veysel Eroglu on Wednesday met with the Spanish Minister of Agriculture, Nutrition and Environment Miguel Arias Canete in Ankara.
Speaking to reporters while meeting Canete, Veysel Eroglu said that Turkey and Spain had an important cooperation with each other.
"As a region, we are in the same Mediterranean climate zone. Our air and water resemble those of Spain. As such, we believe that we can further develop cooperation with Spain," Eroglu noted.
"We are highly successful in planning water basins, observation of water quality, and the fight against forest fires. There could be many benefits from cooperating with Spain in such fields," Eroglu stated.
Miguel Arias Canete, in his part, said that they may soon sign a memorandum of understanding with Eroglu's ministry in dealing with forest fires, national parks, water and biodiversity.
