A National Medical Rescue Team from Istanbul's Health Directorate will go to Pakistan on Thursday to assist flood victims in this country.

Provincial Health Director Ali Ihsan Dokucu said the 13-people health team included doctors from different branches, nurses, a laboratory assistant, an environment health technician, a biologist and a communication expert. "A rescue vehicle, an ambulance, a tent hospital, medical equipment, a fully-equipped laboratory, an ultrasonography device and communication equipment will also be sent to the region," he added.

Dokucu said studies of the Turkish team may last for a few weeks in Pakistan.

The team will chlorinate potable water, deal with epidemics and give treatment service to Pakistani people.

The team earlier had given health services in quakes that hit Iran, Pakistan and Indonesia.
