Turkish and Russian Coast Guard boats started a joint exercise Monday in Istanbul.

Turkish General Staff said in a statement posted on its website that the exercise would last until September 23.

The joint exercise which is coordinated by the Turkish Coast Guard is part of an effort to promote cooperation and joint training in this field between the two countries.

Basic Naval training and search and rescue training will also be given to participants during the exercise.

Russian Coast Guard ship RUBIN (050) will visit the Istanbul Port under the exercise.

Russia,Turkey,Iran and India could together manufacture helicopter carrying ships like the Mistral or even better than that.These countries must give it a serious thought.
