On the first day of the event, competitions in the categories of men's 55 kg, 66 kg and 96 kg were completed.

Medal-winners are as follows:

55 kg:
Gold - Rovshan Bayramov (Azerbaijan)
Silver - Elbek Tazhyieu (Belarus)
Bronze - Bekkhan Mankiev (Russia) and Shujin Li (China)

66 kg:
Gold - Saed Morad Abdvali (Iran)
Silver - Manuchar Tskhadaia (Georgia)
Bronze - Pedro Mulens Herrera (Cuba) and Hyeon-Woo Kim (South Korea)

96 kg:
Gold - Guri Elis (Bulgaria)
Silver - Alexander Jimy Lidberg (Sweden)
Bronze - Cenk Ildem (Turkey) and Rustam Totrov (Russia)
