An agreement for the third airport of Istanbul, which will be one of the biggest airports of the world, will be signed on May 20. Director General of State Airports Authority of Turkey (DHMI) Orhan Birdal said the tender bid for the third airport was the biggest in the history of the Republic of Turkey, and it was a big success.
He said the signing ceremony would be held on May 20, on the 80th anniversary of DHMI, at Turkey's Ministry of Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications.
The winner of the bid for new Istanbul airport was Limak/Cengiz/Kolin/Ma-Pa/Kalyon Consortium, a joint venture of only Turkish companies.
Tender for the third airport in Istanbul took place in Ankara's Esenboga International Airport on May 3. For the construction and 25-year lease of the airport, Limak/Cengiz/Kolin/Ma-Pa/Kalyon Consortium offered the highest bid of 22.152 billion euros, which is the record price in the history of the country.
