China imported 53 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2013, accounting for 31.6 percent of the country’s total gas consumption, China Petroleum says.
According to a report by China National Petroleum Corp’s Economics and Technology Research Institute, China's natural gas consumption increased by 13.9 percent year on year in 2013, becoming the world's third-largest gas user.
Experts say that the country's dependency on natural gas imports will continue to increase as fossil fuel consumption dwindles in a bid to improve air quality.
The report estimates that China's total domestic gas production and imported volume will increase by 11 percent to reach 186 billion cubic meters in 2014.Last Mod: 05 Şubat 2014, 11:06
