Chinese state-owned oil company Sinopec on Monday pledged to pay $124 million in compensation after an investigation found the company responsible for the pipeline blast that killed 62 people in November.
During the investigation, it was pointed out that a leak occurred in the pipeline seven hours before the incident but the Sinopec failed to take necessary measures to prevent it.
The blast also injured 136 people.
Following the blast on November 22 in the city of Qingdao, in eastern China, 15 people, including unspecified numbers of Sinopec employees and Qingdao city staff, have been detained, state media say.Last Mod: 13 Ocak 2014, 12:59
