U.S. automaker Chrysler Group LLC will recall 1,708 Dodge JCUV vehicles imported to mainland China due to defects in anti-theft devices, China's quality watchdog said on Friday.
The fault in the device may cause the engine to shut down while running, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a statement on its website.
The recall involves Dodge JCUV vehicles produced between Aug. 3, 2009 and Jan. 23, 2010, it said.
The Dodge JCUV is the Chinese version of Chrysler's Dodge Journey crossover. Chrysler could not be immediately reached for comment.
