Companies that are generating their own energy by renewable sources - such as solar or wind power - will be able to use public land free of charge, according to a new law that came into effect last Friday.

 

The minimum criteria for companies to qualify for the scheme is that their units have a generating capacity of 500 KW, which will entitle them to the use of public land for 20 years.

Those companies that have a generating capacity of 1 MW will have access to public land for 30 years.

At the end of periods outlined above, at least 80 percent of facilities will be returned to the Treasury free of charge.
