The 44th World Economic Forum (WEF) kicked off on Wednesday with the theme 'Reshaping the world’.

The leaders and policy makers of more than 40 countries are scheduled to participate in meetings on issues that include economic growth, environmental sustainability, and financial systems.

Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Economy Minister Nihat Zeybetci, and Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas are scheduled to be speakers at separate sessions.

At least 2,500 participants from 100 countries will attend the three day gathering.

Disruptive innovation, inclusive growth, climate change, environmental issues, and the Syria conflict are the conference's main topics.

Turkish FM to speak Syria and Mideast

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu will speak on Thursday at "The Humanitarian Crisis in Syria" and "End Game for the Middle East" sessions of the 44th World Economic Forum (WEF).

Davutoglu is expected to carry out bilateral talks and negotiations at the forum.

Iran oil minister to meet Western oil company heads in Davos

Iran's national news agency has reported that the country's oil minister will meet with representatives of Western oil companies on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The IRIB report Wednesday said Bijan Namdar Zanganeh will discuss the possibility of investing in Iran's oil and gas sectors.

"Major international oil companies can participate in Iran's plans for increasing its oil and gas production, and reviving oil fields," Zanganeh said.

The oil minister will accompany Iran's president Hassan Rouhani on his visit to the annual meeting which runs until Saturday.
