An Ethiopia-Sudan trade forum kicked off on Sunday in Addis Ababa under the auspices of the Sudanese embassy in Ethiopia and the Ethiopian Ministry of Industry.
During the opening ceremony, Sudanese ambassador to Ethiopia Abdelrahman Sirr Al-Ketim said the event aims to enhance trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
Several Sudanese companies have already opted to invest in Ethiopia, thanks to the “conducive investment climate” created in the country, he noted.
Ethiopian Investment Agency Director-General Fitsum Arega said more than 700 Sudanese investors have been licensed to operate in various sectors in Ethiopia.
He, however, said the share of Sudanese investments in the total foreign direct investment of Ethiopia was not as large as what the closeness of the two nations would warrant.
The three day forum, Arega said, would encourage Sudanese businessmen that are interested in investing in Ethiopia to start off their respective projects.
“It would serve as opportunity to promote investment in Ethiopia among prospective investors from Sudan,” he said.Last Mod: 25 Mayıs 2014, 23:43
