Exports from the northwestern province of Bursa have risen remarkably in last 13 years.
Exports from Bursa which were 653 million U.S. dollars in 1996 increased to 9.4 billion U.S. dollars in 2008.
Exports from the province which decreased to 7.8 billion U.S. dollars in 2009 due to economic crisis have reached 6.5 billion U.S. dollars in the first seven months of 2010.
According to the data by Turkish Assembly of Exporters (TIM) and Uludag Exporters' Associations, 10.5 percent of total exports of Turkey made from Bursa in the first seven months of 2010.
45.2 percent of total auto exports of Turkey made from the province in the same period. Auto exports from Bursa reached 4.5 billion U.S. dollars between January and July 2010.
A total of 168 foreign companies are operating in the province. 55 percent of these companies invest in the automotive sector.
The number of companies opened in Bursa in the first half of 2010 increased by 14.3 percent when compared to the same period of 2009.
