Five companies offered bids on Monday in an auction opened by Turkey's state-owned Meat & Fish Corporation, known as EBK, to import 4,000 tonnes of livestock.

The bidders were Jordan-based Khaled Hijazi, Germany-based Hacilar Halal Meat, Slovakia-based Dituria-S S.R.O, Denmark-based Mb Food A/S, Austria-based Altintern Handels GMBH and Texilhandelsgeselschaft M.B.H.

Khaled Hijazi, which gave an offer of $18 million, was the only company that made bid for the whole livestock import. Jordan-based company was also the winner of an earlier auction opened by EBK.

Companies are able to offer separate bids for 500 tonnes or for the full livestock import.
