Germany's Lufthansa Airlines eyes more destinations in Turkey with a view to boost market share in the country, the airlines' Turkey director said on Tuesday.
"We are planning to increase our market share in Turkey from 10-12 percent to at least 15 percent. And in the long run, we are planning to add Trabzon, Kayseri, Diyarbakir, and Samsun to our destinations portfolio," Gregor Wende told a press meeting on the occasion of Lufthansa's launching direct flights between Munich and Turkey's northwestern province of Bursa.
Lufthansa made first flight from Bursa's Yenisehir Airport to Munich on Monday with three flights scheduled a week as Wende said Lufthansa would increase the number of flights to five in April next year.
Wende also said flights to Bursa's Yenisehir Airport would have probably ruled out a project to start flights to Sabiha Gokcen, Istanbul's major airport on the Asian-side of the city.
