World Bulletin/News Desk

The International Labour Organization (ILO) and Turkey Business Association (ISKUR) have undertaken a project to increase women's employment and promote gender equality.

An AA correpondent received information about the "More and Better Jobs for Women: Women’s Empowerment through Decent Work in Turkey" project which began in July from an ILO official.

The project financed by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) will be implemented in the Turkish cities of Ankara, Bursa, Istanbul and Konya until 2016. It will focus on unemployed women registered with ISKUR.

The project will receive support from primarily the Ministry of Labor and Social Security and Ministry of Family and Social Policies, as well as relevant ministries, public institutions, municipalities, labor unions and civil society.

A National Action Plan on Women’s Employment and Gender Equality will be prepared and its implementation supported.
