Indonesia's trade minister said the country was looking at alternatives to Australia for food imports in the wake of a diplomatic rift over accusations that Canberra had tapped the mobile telephones of top Indonesian officials.

"There are other places that I think can help us with our food security aspirations," Gita Wirjawan told reporters. "We are looking at those possibilities."

Indonesia is a major importer of Australian wheat, live cattle and beef, while Australia is Indonesia's 10-largest export market.
