An international relief conference, which will be held by the initiatives of United Nations in Kuwait, aims to collect 1.5 billion USD of assistance for millions of Syrians who have been affected by the crisis in their country.
This will be the first high-level international relief conference for Syrians.
UN-member states, UN organizations, and many representatives from NGOs in the world will participate in the conference which will be held on Wednesday.
The conference aims to collect 1.5 billion USD for Syrians who took shelter in neighboring countries after escaping the violence in their country.
Besides 60 countries, Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Gulf Cooperation Council, Arab League and the EU will participate in the conference.
Opening remarks of the conference will be made by Kuwait's Amir Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
According to UN figures, over 600,000 Syrians escaped from their country and have been taking shelter in Turkey, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon and Egypt. Also nearly two million Syrians were displaced in their own country.
