Turkish Food, Agriculture & Animal Breeding Minister Mehdi Eker has said that they would not allow the drought in U.S to affect Turkey.

Eker told reporters on Sunday that there was a crisis in agricultural products and the prices due to drought in the U.S., adding that his ministry would not allow the crisis to affect Turkey.

Eker recalled that the global economic crisis had been triggered by the U.S. and then it spread to the other regions of the world, saying that Turkey had not been affected by that crisis too.

We will not allow the U.S. drought crisis to affect Turkey as well, he said.

Eker noted that Turkey rose from 11th rank to 7th rank in the world in terms of the agricultural product value in the past four years, and it had been on the first rank in Europe since 2008.
