Deputy Energy Minister of Mozambique urged for international cooperation in the renewable energy sector in his country, in his opening speech at the seventh International Energy Congress and Fair in Ankara Monday.
Deputy Energy Minister Jaime Himende said that "Mozambique has great hydroelectricity potential, and recently they have taken some bold steps to use renewable resources efficiently," he said, and added that in order to be successful in the renewable sector, international cooperation is required.
"We need to construct hydroelectric power plants to use water potential efficiently," he said.?
Himende said that in order to meet the growing population in Mozambique and its energy demand, long-term investment is required. He explained that since Mozambique discovered natural gas in recent years, the country is trying to provide electricity to all parts of the country.
"We welcome Turkish investors in all fields of the energy sector," he added.
Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz, Chinese Energy Development Department Head Wang Binghua, Mozambique’s Deputy Energy Minister Jaime Himede and South Korea Trade, Industry and Energy Minister Yoon Sang-Jick are attending the event.
The seventh International Energy Congress and Fair was organized by the Global Energy Association, and The Anadolu Agency is the global partner of the congress.
Renewable energy, oil-and-natural gas, regulations and energy finance are some of the topics that will be discussed at the congress.
Representatives from the energy sector, including the Turkish energy ministry, energy market regulatory authority, Turkish parliament and non-governmental organizations are also expected to attend during the two day event.Last Mod: 24 Kasım 2014, 16:54
