The deputy chair of Turkey's Banking Regulatory and Supervision Agency (BDDK) was removed after leaked sound recordings.

Deputy chair Ozan Cangurel was removed on Friday over claims that he was involved in a 'parallel state' that seeks to undermine the Turkish government. Two other officials, Faik Atay and Mutlu Tosun, were also removed from their posts.

In the leaked recordings, a member from Fethullah Gulen's Hizmet Movement said that there were allies of the movement working within the BDDK board of directors.
