Israeli gas should be channelled through Cyprus and Turkey to reduce Europe’s reliance on Russian energy, Ozkan Yorgancioglu, prime minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, said.
Speaking at a business association meeting in Istanbul, Yorgancioglu said: "We, Turkey, Greece and Israel should take responsibility to smooth the disputes in a way that everybody will benefit."
“People will use cheaper natural gas with Israeli gas resources and this will help many countries solve the problems among themselves.”
He added: "This should not be perceived as Israeli gas, southern or northern Cyprus gas. There is a need and the important points about the issue are the price, producers, consumers, how the need will be met and the risks."
