Istanbul, Turkey's biggest city and main commercial hub, made the largest amount of exports in the first six months of 2010 with $24.6 billion, highlighting a growing gap between different regions in the country.

According to data from a national assembly of exporters, Bursa and Kocaeli followed Istanbul with $5.6 billion and $4.1 billion, respectively, and the three provinces in the Marmara region claimed 64.6 percent of the overall exports in the country with $34.46 billion out of $53.34 billion.

The southeastern province of Tunceli came last on the list with only $1,800 in the first half of the year as other provinces in the southeast and east such as Ardahan, Bingol, Siirt and Erzincan were among the ten countries at the bottom of the list with a total of $10.3 million to claim 0.019 percent of the overall exports.
